Updated: Dec 21, 2024

The momentum continues into February as the hustle never stops! While some of my side hustles have seen steady growth, others are still in the waiting phase. It’s all part of the journey, and I’m excited to continue refining my approach.

Welcome back to another edition of the Financial Tutor Side Hustle Report! If you’re new here, this is where I share my monthly side hustle income, diving deep into what worked, what didn’t, and how you can apply these lessons to your own journey.

Let’s jump into the numbers for February 2024!

Side Hustle Income for February 2024

Total Side Hustle Income for February 2024 = $2,859.60

While the total income for February is a little higher than January’s $2,637.18, it’s still a solid performance, with consistent contributions from my Amazon video reviews, podcast, and Airbnb. Some hustles, like ShareGrid and Wag, have yet to make an impact this year, but I'm optimistic that they’ll pick up as the year progresses. In the meantime, I’m focusing on maximizing the hustles that are generating income and keeping a close eye on new opportunities.

Wag: $0.00

No dog-walking this month, as other priorities have taken center stage. While Wag is a flexible and fun side hustle, the colder weather and other time commitments made it difficult to fit it into my schedule. I plan to re-engage when the weather improves and my schedule opens up a bit more.

Amazon Video Review Commissions: $1,135.00

Amazon video reviews brought in a solid $1,135 this month. While it’s a bit of a dip from January’s earnings, I’m still happy with this steady stream of income. The goal is to continue refining my strategy, particularly focusing on high-traffic product categories, to ensure I can maintain growth throughout the year.

ShareGrid (Camera Rental): $0.00

No camera rentals this month. While ShareGrid has proven to be unpredictable, I’m staying optimistic. I plan to ramp up promotion as wedding season approaches, hoping for an uptick in demand for gear rentals. I’ll continue looking for creative ways to generate interest.

Podcast: $15.54

My podcast earned a nice bump this month with $15.54. While still small, this is encouraging progress. My focus is on continuing to grow the audience and expanding my reach. Every month, I see a bit more engagement, which keeps me motivated to keep improving and pushing forward.

House Hack: Free Housing

House hacking remains a key strategy for reducing my living expenses. I continue to live in one unit for free, which helps offset the building costs. The upstairs unit is rented long-term, and the garden unit is used for my short-term Airbnb business, making this setup an efficient way to lower living costs while still generating income.

Airbnb/VRBO (Short-Term Rental Income): $1,379.18

This month, my short-term rental business performed quite well with $2,316 in gross income. However, after covering the building’s expenses, the net income for the month was $1,379.18. This is a solid amount and reflects the reliable nature of the Airbnb hustle, even during the winter months. I’ve been working on fine-tuning my listings, and it seems to be paying off with steady occupancy.

Building Expenses Breakdown:

  • Monthly mortgage payment (including interest): $2,116.07

  • Home insurance: $151.96

  • Property taxes: $542.44

  • Total monthly expenses: $2,810.47

Since the building has three units, the Airbnb portion of the expenses comes to $936.82 per month. After subtracting this from the gross Airbnb income, the net income for February is: $2,316 - $936.82 = $1,379.18

Interest Earnings (Robinhood): $328.88

I earned $328.88 in interest from funds held in my Robinhood account. As I continue to explore where to invest this money, it’s nice to see a steady return while I weigh my options. Even idle funds can work for you, growing passively in the background.

And that concludes the February Side Hustle Report.

February has been a solid month with a total of $2,859.60 in side hustle income. Although a few of my hustles are still in the early stages, I’m confident that I’m on the right track. As I work on refining and scaling up these income streams, I’m excited for the potential growth in the coming months.

I’ll continue optimizing Amazon video reviews, exploring new ways to promote my podcast, and pushing to keep my Airbnb bookings steady. With spring just around the corner, I’m also planning to revisit Wag and see if I can get back into that hustle as well.

Looking Ahead

As we move into the year, my focus remains on growing my existing hustles and testing out new side hustle opportunities. I’m planning to try at least 10 new side hustles in 2024, exploring what works and what doesn’t. There’s always room for improvement, and I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.
