October has been another solid month, with steady earnings from my key hustles. While some side hustles saw fluctuations, others, like co-hosting and Amazon video reviews, have continued to perform well. With some new opportunities also emerging, I’m excited to keep growing my income streams.
Welcome to the October 2024 edition of the Financial Tutor Side Hustle Report! For those who are new, I’ve been documenting my side hustle journey since 2021. Every month, I share the income generated from my various side hustles, including gig economy jobs, consulting, investments, and more. I break down the numbers, provide insights into what’s working, and share lessons learned along the way.

Total Side Hustle Income for October 2024 = $5,123.33
October brought in a total of $5,433.15 from my side hustles. While some hustles like Wag and ShareGrid weren’t active, other income streams like Amazon video reviews, co-hosting, consulting calls, and Airbnb continue to provide steady returns. Here’s a closer look at each hustle this month.
Wag: $0.00
No dog-walking this month. Wag remains an option for when my schedule permits, but for now, my focus is on more consistent and higher-earning hustles. I’ll keep it in mind for the future as opportunities arise.
Amazon Video Review Commissions: $876.34
Amazon video reviews brought in $876.34 this month, a nice jump from previous months. This continues to be a great source of passive income, and I’m focusing on optimizing my process to increase earnings even further. The goal is to keep maintaining and growing this income stream.
ShareGrid (Camera Rental): $0.00
No rentals on ShareGrid in October. I haven’t had the right equipment available to list, but I’ll be ready to rent out my gear when the time is right. It remains an option in the future when I have the gear to offer.
Podcast: $6.89
The podcast earned $6.89 in October. While this is still a modest amount, it’s another step forward in building the podcast’s audience and monetizing it. I’m continuing to refine the content and promote the podcast, with the goal of increasing listenership and earnings in the long term.
Co-Hosting: $482.36
Co-hosting on Airbnb brought in $482.36 this month. This is a strong result as I continue building my network and reputation in the co-hosting space. It’s a hustle that I’m optimistic will continue to grow as I gain more experience and work with more clients.
Consulting Calls: $185.00
Consulting calls generated $185.00 this month, which is a great improvement over previous months. I’m seeing more interest in this service, and I’m focusing on promoting my consulting calls to expand this hustle further. It’s exciting to see this income stream growing.
House Hack: Free Housing
The house hack strategy continues to save me money by providing free housing. I live in one unit for free, and I rent out the other two units—one long-term and one as a short-term rental. This is a great way to reduce my living expenses and keep my overall income higher.
Airbnb/VRBO (Short-Term Rental Income): $2,936.18
My short-term rental hustle brought in $3,747.00 from Airbnb this month. After covering the building’s share of expenses, my net income from this hustle is $2,936.18. I’ve been focusing on maintaining a strong occupancy rate and improving my listings to keep the income flowing steadily.
Building Expenses:
Monthly mortgage payment (including interest): $2,116.07
Home insurance: $151.96
Property taxes: $542.44
Total monthly expenses: $2,810.47
Since the building has three units, the Airbnb portion of these expenses is $936.82 per month.
Net Airbnb Income for October: $3,747.00 - $936.82 = $2,936.18. This is my actual profit from the Airbnb hustle after covering the building’s share of expenses.
Interest Earnings (Robinhood): $636.56
I earned $636.56 in interest this month from my Robinhood account. This continues to be a nice additional income stream, even though I haven’t made any new investments yet. I’m planning to put these earnings toward more long-term investments in the future.
And that concludes the October Side Hustle Report.
